Acer Iconia A500
The Acer Iconia Tab A500 is a touch-screen tablet that runs on the Android 3.0 Honeycomb platform, using a custom Acer 4.5 user interface that supports Adobe Flash 10.1. It differs significantly from the Acer Iconia dual screen laptop of a similar name. The Iconia Tab A500 offers an impressive specifications set that has generated considerable interest within the industry.
Utilizing the powerful Nvidia Tegra 250 dual-core processor, the Inconia A500 is capable of seamlessly processing HD games, multimedia apps and animations. The 10.1 inch high gloss LCD screen is also excellent for HD 1080p video playback. The 10-point multi touch capacitive screen and gyroscope control are widely anticipated features. The ability for users to play HD arcade games and online 3D games on the Iconia Tab A500 at a level similar to gaming consoles is extremely appealing. The responsiveness of the screen has been highly touted, although some concerns have been expressed over potential glare issues during outdoor use. The overall HD game playing combined with tablet touch screen capabilities has to potential to influence future gaming technology.
A big draw card is the Verizon Wireless LTE 4G network support capability. As the Verizon 4G network continues to roll out across the United States and globally, the Acer Iconia A500 ensures it is at the forefront of network connectivity. The Clear.fi media sharing capabilities facilitates high-speed and large file multimedia across network sharing, particularly of HD video files. Equipped with a full size USB port, mini USB port, HDMI output, Micro SD card and Sim Card support, the Acer Iconia A500 ensures its relevance, as a multiuse tablet and not just a limited-use one trick pony. The rear-mounted camera is functional, though somewhat limited in application.
Unfortunately release dates and pricing information is yet to be issued by Acer, but more details are expected in the first quarter of 2011.
